Our Methodology

How we research, write, and maintain the automotive content and service standards across the Northwave Groups platform.

Editorial Standards

All content published on Northwave Groups follows a documented editorial process. Articles are researched using primary sources including manufacturer service schedules, ATO taxation rulings, state transport authority data, and recognised automotive reliability databases. Every guide presents balanced pros and cons — we do not favour any finance product, vehicle brand, or service provider.

Workshop Partner Vetting

Workshops in our service network must meet the following criteria:

  • Valid Australian Business Number (ABN) and appropriate state licences
  • Minimum one qualified mechanic (Certificate III in Automotive Technology or equivalent)
  • Use of manufacturer-approved or equivalent-quality parts
  • Itemised quoting before work commences — no undisclosed charges
  • Maintained customer satisfaction rating of 4.0/5 or above
  • Compliance with Australian Consumer Law warranty obligations

Partners are reviewed quarterly. Workshops falling below standards are removed from the network.

Calculator Methodology

Our financial calculators use simplified models based on publicly available tax rate thresholds, average FBT calculations, and standard finance formulas. They do not account for individual circumstances including HECS/HELP debts, Medicare levy surcharge, spouse income, or specific employer packaging policies. Results are indicative and updated when tax legislation changes.

Independence Policy

Northwave Groups does not accept:

  • Commissions from vehicle dealers or manufacturers
  • Referral fees from novated lease providers or finance companies
  • Paid placement in editorial rankings or buying guides
  • Sponsored content presented as independent editorial

Service referral fees from workshop partners fund platform operations. These arrangements do not influence editorial content, rankings, or recommendations.

Corrections Policy

We correct factual errors promptly upon identification. Material corrections include a dated note at the top of the affected article. Contact editorial@northwavegroups.com to report inaccuracies.
